Synopsis

This high comedy of sexual misadventure set in darkest England of the Edwardian era is the brainchild of Michael Palin of Monty Python fame. Returning from 10 years of spreading the Word in Africa, the Rev. Charles Fortescue is sent to London's East End to run a mission to fallen women. But, by a series of twists of fate, and aided by an attractive lady philanthropist who shares his interest in fertility symbols, the missionary soon finds he has to adopt a new position with in his fallen flock. And in his efforts to save the women, he ends up saving several for himself!
