Synopsis

What happened to the bearded mastermind of the French narcotics syndicate when he escaped at the end of The French Connection? American cop 'Popeye' Doyle determines to find out and travels to Marseilles to put an end to the case once and for all. But once on foreign soil he finds his job even harder than before. Hampered by red tape and an agonizing few weeks when he is pumped full of heroin to turn him into an addict, he survives and eventually tracks down his prey... A movie rarity, a sequel that is as good as its famous predecessor with Gene Hackman repeating his Oscar-winning role as Doyle and participating in yet another breathtaking chase (this time on foot) during the film's climax in Marseilles harbour. Fast moving tough, action-packed entertainment with a capital E! Directed by John Frankenheimer.
