Synopsis

A MONSTER COMEDY ABOUT AN APE-MAN WHO GOES BANANAS
MIGHTIER than KING KONG! GREATER than GODZILLA! LARGER than THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN! The classic and always fascinating love story of Beauty and the Beast gets a modern updating in SCHLOCK, a zany monster film by writer-director John Landis (THE BLUES BROTHERS, ANIMAL HOUSE & AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON). The movie is about the adventures of a prehistoric ape-man who comes to life in modern California. He eats bananas, ice cream, milk, and chocolate cake, plays the piano, gets interviewed on TV - and falls in love. The female half of this very odd couple is a teenage beauty named Mindy, portrayed by gorgeous, 19-year old Eliza Garrett. The film's action climax, Mindy is carried off by her simian lover - not to the top of the Empire State Building but the roof of the high school gym. What happens when the National Guard shows up and tries to rescue her is not being revealed by writer-director Landis, who refers to his story as "Beast and the Beauty."
