Synopsis

Back in '47, a gun was a roscoe, a private-eye was a Peeper, and murder was okay as long as nobody got hurt…that is until Leslie Tucker (MICHAEL CAINE) happens along! Having been hired by a down and out hoodlum. Anglich, to find his missing daughter Ellen (NATALIE WOOD), the hapless Tucker's brief is short and to the point. Find the girl and her sister, and hand over the proceeds of their father's ill-gotten gains.
If he succeeds, he'll get paid. if he doesn't, he'll never know the difference!
