Synopsis

A WORLD AT WAR... A DYNASTY ON THE BRINK OF SELF-DESTRUCTION...
A STORY OF LOVE AND HATE, LOYALTY AND BETRAYAL, TRUST AND TREACHERY. The world's bitterest conflict has been raging for 3 grim years. For Mussolini, one of Europe's most notorious dictators, these are desperate times. He sees the powerful empire he has conspired and plotted to build, slowly slipping from his grasp. He can no longer trust his friends or colleagues - even his son-in-law, once an ally, is now a suspected traitor. Only his wife and his mistress remain devoted, protecting the ailing Benito from the intrigues that threaten to destroy him. The film is a triumph of on-screen performances with Bob Hoskins, Anthony Hopkins and Susan Sarandon, brilliantly recreating the lives and recapturing the events that first linked and finally split the two leading families of Italy's fascist regime.
