Oh good Lord... it's Cannon and Ball, what more do you need to know? Briefly enormously popular in the late seventies and early eighties, Cannon and Ball, like Little and Large, were a pair of club circuit-hardened old school comedians who resolutely failed to take Morecambe and Wise's crown. Or even the Two Ronnies' crown. In case you're unfamiliar with their antics, Cannon was the taller, stone-faced one, Ball was the shorter, cheekier one. Cannon tried to sing serious ballads, Ball interrupted in a comical fashion involving much stretching of his trademark red braces and childlike throwing of tantrums. After an unsuccessful feature film (the Boys in Blue) and the rise of alternative comedy left them looking more than a touch dated, the duo tried their hand at sitcom (Plaza Patrol) and were crap at that too, so they found God and toured the country with a comedy gospel show, like Billy Graham with red braces. Sadly, they weren't too pious to ham it up at the Blackpool Winter Gardens or on the Best of British Variety tours as long as the money was right. Still, they had their admirers, and it's with those people that any residual interest in this live video must surely rest.
