An unemployed executive clings desperately to his life style as his marriage starts to disintegrate...
In his forties - highly successful Brad Franks (George Kennedy) is suddenly the victim of a lag in Aerospace Industry. Phased out, Brad continues to live as he always did, unwilling to admit that he is in financial trouble, no job - no prospects. The spectre of his father in the depression, never knowing where the next dollar will come from until he finally kills himself. Brad sells his boat and in his frustration gambles wildly with the money, but mostly winning. Then comes an opportunity to manage a Marina in San Rafael. With his wife Gloria (Vera Miles) they start a new life. beginnings [sic] aren't just for kids - life is made up of beginnings.
