He is successful at first hauling sailors around San Diego, but alter a series of breakdowns. the sailors will not ride with him anymore so he sets out to find other customers. He is disappointed at being turned away from hotels and restaurants as well as the airport because he does not have the required permits and stickers and when he does find a couple of fares, his taxi is stolen. He searches desperately for his cab and is arrested and jailed while trying to open a door to a garage where he thinks his cab is hidden. After his release he tries and tries to find his cab and he becomes more and more downhearted. He turns to drinking and thinks he sees the thief, (Frank Sinatra, Jr.), follows him to his house and breaks in. He returns to the factory on the advice of his attorney-brother-in-law, (Ralph James).
