Synopsis

A GIRL CAN CHANGE HER LIFE. WHEN HER MAN CHANGES HIS MIND.

"When your husband walks out, there are three things you gotta do…get a job, get a lawyer and get a man."

Each year, around 75,000 American husbands leave around 75,000 wives for probably just as many reasons. And while misery may like company, 'One Is A Lonely Number'.
In this all-too-contemporary drama, a young woman finds herself totally unprepared to survive the shock of a dissolved marriage. She is bright, pretty, educated, but for four years she thought of herself as more of an appendage than a separate person. During her period of crisis, she searches inside and out for the resiliency and optimism to continue. Confused by the advice of friends and the attitude of strangers, she finds comfort and encouragment from a compassionate old man, a widower who has known loneliness intimately and too long.
Starring Trish Van Devere and Melvyn Douglas, alongside Monte Markham and Janet Leigh as a tough-talking, hard-line man-hater, 'One Is A Lonely Number' tells a story of our times.
