Synopsis

A feature film of extraordinary Power and Beauty. Set in a time when poverty and magic were accepted as facts of life, this is the haunting tale of a young girl's discovery of her own powers through contact with Scarf Michael, a "wild ungodly man", a wedding fiddler whose playing causes fears and hallucinations wherever it is heard. The strange love story of Michael and Maura contains elements of fear, intolerance, bawdy comedy and inescapable tragedy, interlaced with moments of natural beauty. Mary Ryan gives a stunning performance in the lead role, her first major screen appearance.
