Synopsis

Robert Helpmann choreographed this triple Academy Award winning production of the enchanting ballet, The Red Shoes. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale of a girl bewitched by her own red dancing shoes, it tells the story of a young couple who are forced to choose between their devotion to their art and their devotion to each other, and the tragic consequences of their choice. Sir Thomas Beecham conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in this timeless presentation.
