Synopsis

The crime: a brutal murder. The victim: a beautiful girl. The motive: racial hatred
The discovery of the body of a beautiful girl on Hampstead Heath, and the subsequent police investigations, reveal a seam of racial hatred in the London of the late 1950's. With each turn of the enquiry uncovering new facts about the dead girl and the company she has been keeping, the mystery deepens and the number of suspects grows to include the girl's brother, her fiance, his family... Nigel Patrick plays the Inspector and Michael Craig his prejudiced Sergeant in this taut police thriller directed by Basil Dearden, whose other notable "thriller with social comment" films include The Blue Lamp, Life for Ruth and Victim.
