Synopsis

In a justice system where criminals go free, lawyers and judges make deals as a matter of routine. But often the innocent go unprotected. A young lawyer, Arthur Kirkland (Al Pacino), begins to wonder whether, in fact, justice exists at all. Arthur is an honest, idealistic lawyer, who is suddenly under pressure to defend a distinguished judge (John Forsythe) accused of raping and battering a young girl - Arthur knows him to be guilty! Jack Warden co-stars as an eccentric, suicidal judge who thinks Arthur should play the game. When it comes to the trial, Arthur must choose between his career and personal integrity. The final, explosive courtroom scene is unforgettable.
