Synopsis

Humphrey Bogart is at his best in this fever-pitched drama adapted from Herman Wouk's Pulitzer novel. Captain Queeg takes over the command of the US "Caine" and immediately orders changes to the running of the vessel much against the instincts of the crew and officers. Slowly the changes take on a more ominous form as the Captain is seen to be neurotic and dangerous by the crew. During a hurricane the Captain finally loses his nerve and the second officer takes over command of the vessel only to be accused by Queeg of mutiny. Ultimately the cornered Queeg takes revenge during court martial proceedings.
