Jackie Gleason stars as U.S. Bates, a rich and high-handed Southern tycoon, who believes that money can buy anything. Richard Pryor is the flat-broke, would-be journalist, who gets an amazing offer.... to become a plaything for Bates' spoiled young son (a debut role for Scott Schwarz), a young terror who gets all that he wants but nothing he desires.
