Synopsis

When Jackie Gleason told his son he could have any present he wanted, he picked the most outrageous gift of all... Richard Pryor.
Jackie Gleason stars as U.S. Bates, a rich and high-handed Southern tycoon, who believes that money can buy anything. Richard Pryor is the flat-broke, would-be journalist, who gets an amazing offer.... to become a plaything for Bates' spoiled young son (a debut role for Scott Schwarz), a young terror who gets all that he wants but nothing he desires. "But I'm not for sale, man" insists Pryor. "I though we settled that in the Civil War." But it turns out that like almost everyone else in the picture he too has his price. Reluctantly he becomes.... The Toy. The situation guarantees entertainment for all as the chemistry between Gleason and Pryor, two of America's most popular comics, produces wild laughter, warmth and sheer delight.
