Synopsis

Footloose motorcyclist Charlie Rogers (ELVIS PRESLEY) suddenly finds carnival life irresistibly attractive when he spots beautiful Cathy Lean (JOAN FREEMAN) working in a nearly bankrupt travelling show. Hoping to mix work with pleasure, Charlie signs on as a roustabout. But his pursuit of Cathy isn't easy: her father Joe (LEIF ERICKSON) doesn't like him; carnival owner Maggie Morgan (BARBARA STANWYCK) likes him but doesn't trust him and Cathy is sure that he's two-timing her with the sexy fortune teller! It looks as though odd jobs, beer brawls, hard knocks, no luck in love will be the sum total of Charlie's carnival career - until Maggie gives him a chance to perform. His singing brings the dying midway to life; suddenly the customers are arriving in droves. With Charlie rocking on stage every night, Maggie's operation finally begins to show a profit. Even Joe Lean is won over. But will Charlie's talent win the only fan he really wants?
