Underrated director Ken Wiederhorn ([i]Shock Waves[/i]) turns in a respectable, suitably uncomfortable chiller with this story of a warped serial killer (John DiSanti) stalking a television newscaster whose sister happens to be deaf and blind. As with a lot of exploitation flicks, there aren't many grey areas here - the killer is such a scumbag you'll be wishing death on him every time his pudgy face appears on the screen, whilst all his victims are cardboard cut outs - but nobody comes to these films expecting subtlety, and [i]Eyes of a Stranger[/i] delivers slash with panache thanks to the sure-footed direction and some surprisingly good gore effects. Jennifer Jason Leigh makes an impressive debut as the deaf and dumb girl.
