Synopsis

Only the producer of "Gone With The Wind" could have conceived a film so massive in scope as "Duel in the Sun". In this panoramic setting, Pearl Chavez (JENNIFER JONES) becomes entangled in a classic triangle of love with Lewt McCanles (GREGORY PECK) and Jesse McCanles (JOSEPH COTTEN), sons of land magnate, Senator McCanles (LIONEL BARRYMORE). Pearl's instincts draw her to Lewt, who is wild and passionate. When he refuses to marry her she agrees to marry another man out of spite. Lewt's pride is hurt and he brazenly kills Pearl's fiancé and flees from the consequences - with tragic results. A tale of violent hate and passionate love - brother rises up against brother - father rises up against son.
