Synopsis

After the fighting and disillusionment of the Spanish Civil War, Jim Kingstreet and his wife, Mary, seek peace in central Africa. Here they devote themselves to setting up a game reserve. The first discord in this Shangri-la is the presence of Jim's vindictive older brother, Morgan. Jim had partially blinded him accidentally when they were children. Soon the menace of World War II encroaches on Jim's paradise. The waterholes, which are filled by windmills which pump the precious liquid from the earth, are the centre of the conflict between the Italian army in Abyssinia and the British in Kenya. Jim vows to protect his preserve by every means possible short of killing, and with Mary, alone wars against the two Armies. Using an old "Tiger Moth" plane, and ingenuity born of desperation, he holds both sides at bay. The intervention of Morgan forces a hopeless and tragic showdown at the windmills. [sic]
