Synopsis

Published in 1847, Charlotte Brontė's literary masterpiece Jane Eyre achieved immediate success. Almost a century and a half later it remains one of the best loved and most widely read novels ever written. This classic video production stars Timothy Dalton as the brusque Mr Rochester and Zelah Clarke as the small but 'independently spirited' Jane. Jane leaves Lowood School, a charitable institute where she has spent the last eight years of her life, and secures a position at Thornfield Hall as the governess - in the employ of the mysterious Mr Rochester.
