Synopsis

Young publisher Gene Wilder boards a train at Los Angeles for Chicago. His intention? To spend his time reading manuscripts. The result: a madcap journey in which he finds himself off the train as much as on, involved with zany secretary Jill Clayburgh and a gang of crooks trying to eliminate an eminent art historian. It sounds like Hitchcock but it's much more fun, especially when black dude Richard Pryor joins with Wilder in bringing the crooks to justice. A spectacular train crash brings this comedy-thriller to its riotous conclusion.
