Charles Bronson stars in what must be one of the most exciting escape films ever. Jay Wagner (Robert Duvall) has been framed for murder by his grandfather (John Huston) and sentenced to 28 years in a fortress-like prison. Wagner's wife (Jill Ireland) confides in the grandfather that she has hired Nick Colton (Bronson) to help Jay escape. When one attempt fails, Nick suspects a leak and realises any future plans must be kept secret. Gradually the scheme to free Wagner unfolds into a series of events including some of the most incredible action sequences on film.
