Synopsis

THERE LIVES WERE A MILLION-TO-ONE SHOT.
"ROCKY" is the story of a nobody from the wrong side of the tracks who uses his fists to become a somebody in his search for the great American Dream. Rocky Balboa (SYLVESTER STALLONE) gets his chance of fame by fighting the heavyweight champion of the world in America's Centennial Year. Along the way, Rocky has a tender relationship with Adrian (TALIA SHIRE), who works in the local pet shop. His best friend is the girl's brother, Paulie (BURT YOUNG), who encourages him. Ex-boxer Mickey (BURGESS MEREDITH) coaches Rocky and gives him the benefit of his years of experience in the ring. Rocky's dog, Butkus, is another star of the show as he accompanies his master as he jogs and trains for his crack at the title. "ROCKY" is one of the greatest fight films of all time. Rocky's fifteen-round battle with world champion Apollo Creed (CARL WEATHERS) provides the toe-to-toe, excitement-packed climax. Four cameras actually covered the fight during shooting in the famous Los Angeles Sports Arena. Written by its star, Sylvester Stallone, "ROCKY" won three Hollywood Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It is also the only film with a sports background to be named best of the year. Rocky's rise from rags to riches is a million-to-one shot. The film is an object lesson in optimism for the downtrodden little guy who wants to make it to the big time - if only he had a chance! The final heart-pounding ten minutes of "ROCKY", as Rocky slugs out the last brutal round with Apollo, is an unforgettable experience for all fight fans. . . .
