Synopsis

Bronco Billy McCoy owns, operates, and is the star performer in a small Wild West show that travels throughout the Western states. Budgeted on a show string and held together by Billy's daring horsemanship and sharp-shooting stunts, the motley group of showmen meet up with Antoinette Lily, a beautiful, headstrong New York heiress. Antoinette has just married bumbling con-man John Arlington in order to preserve her inheritance, but Arlington has left her stranded, taking with him her car, clothes and identification. Antoinette accepts Billy's offer to assist in his act, thus commencing a stormy relationship which manages to endure a bank robbery, performance foul ups, and a disastrous tent fire. Arlington meanwhile, finds himself apprehended by the police for what is believed to be Antoinette's murder. Ill-advised by a shady lawyer he pleads guilty by reason of insanity and is sent to a mental institution. Billy needs a new tent for his how, and approaches his friend Doctor Canterbury at a certain mental hospital where Billy has given free performances for years. The doctor is only too pleased to help, but an unexpected complication arises when a new addition to the hospital is - John Arlington.
