Lewis Gilbert, director of Educating Rita, manages to pack a string of laughs romance, emotion, action, terror, even a variation on a strip tease, all into one film. And still finds room, thank heavens, for the irresistibly delectable Joanna Pacula (of Gorky Park fame) as the super tough Gila, who shows six English and American volunteers, just what it takes to survive life on a Kibbutz.
