When an American bomber pilot (JOHN SAVAGE) parachutes into the great plains of Hungary during Worid War II, he is befriended by the Csikos, Hungarian cowboys who tend the famous horses of the Hortobagy. As the Germans pursue him, he and a young boy (KELLY RENO) as guide, race across Hungary in a desperate attempt to reach Tito's Partisans and safety. The Long Ride is a great adventure which traces their journey and their violent confrontation with the Germans at the Yugoslav border.
