OUT of the booming era of Karate-Kung Fu-Martial Arts films comes the first real film on Karate. Mas Oyama, the world's leading Karate professional, has seen his life long dream come true — the holding of an international Karate tournament which shows not only KATA (the style of Karate), but the actual fighting Karate where highly trained and skilled performers actually strike each other. This is a large scale documentary film of the First International Karate Tournament which was held on November 1, 1975. Jumping over a speeding automobile which is running at top speed, and ice breaking. 240 days were spent in filming in various locations throughout the world including America, Europe and Southeast Asia at a production cost of 120 million yen ($400,000) an unprecedented scale for a documentary film of this type. The entire filming was supervised by Mas Oyama, chairman of Kyokushin Kaikan, who contributed so much to the film's realism.
