Synopsis

'Not all that long ago, when children were smaller and people had especially hairy knees, there lived an old man of Lochnagar.' So begins a saga involving tame grouse, ticklish eagles, sea-haggis, capercaillie, and even the very rare Gorms — a tiny people living in the Scottish hillsides who have their own Royal Family.

HRH The Prince of Wales wrote this story to amuse his younger brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, when they were nine years old and five years old respectively and all the adventures take place on the royal estate of Balmoral.
