Her crime was being a woman... they shot, raped and tried to kill her, and he just didn't care. Successful television executive Diana Hunter (YVETTE MIMIEUX) is driving from Los Angeles to New York when her car is hijacked. She reports to the police who detain her due to lack of I.D. Whilst being held she is brutally raped by her jailer who she subsequently beats to death. She is dragged away by a murderer (TOMMY LEE JONES) who has escaped from the next cell, they become instant fugitives who are mercilessly hunted by the authorities. In 24 hours her life turns into a nightmare of rape and violence.
