Alistair Maclean has charged this compelling thriller with plenty of spectacular action and placed it amidst a huge gypsy festival, the tension of the bull ring and the haunting landscape of the Camargue in France. Action packed from beginning to end it centres around a plot to smuggle an Hungarian scientist to the USA. The plan is masterminded by the cunningly determined Duc de Croytor who hires a footloose American and his girlfriend to accompany the scientist.
