Far away from busy city life, Lena Canada begins her first job as a nurse at a home for abandoned and disabled children. Relishing the opportunity to participate and help, Lena becomes captivated by a young girl called Karen who, suffering from cerebral palsy, refuses to speak. For many long weeks the work is unrewarding, but finally Lena unlocks the key to Karen's mind. She discovers Karen's one obsession - Elvis Presley.
