Synopsis

Small town racial prejudice leads to a climax of horror.
A small fishing town in Northern Michigan provides the exquisite setting for this fast paced and arresting look at the tumultuous currents beneath the placid surface of orderly small town life. George Harrison's financial interests permeate every corner of Fairport. He is eager to see that the lucrative sports fishing industry is protected by limiting commercial fishing in the area. The commercial fishermen, mostly American Indians, do not recognize his laws. Through violence and terror, Harrison brings more and more pressure to bear on the Indian community, but particularly to one man, Joe Bass. Bass aggravates the situation by bidding against one of Harrison's men at a boat auction and the bitterness comes to a climax when Joe falls in love with Harrison's daughter Karen. Joe is the first person Karen has ever seen stand up to her father. She turns her full attention to him and the romance builds. Consequently, Harrison triples his efforts to eliminate Bass. Plots and counterplots develop as anger builds to a devastating climax of horror.
