Synopsis

A story of despair & hope when love goes cold...
Gold Medal Winner Atlanta Film Festival. "Betty" (Ellen Geer) and "Brad" (Jon Cypher) are clearly in love and have two lively children (Robbie Rist and Ann Lizabeth Beesley). They live in a suburban paradise of material comfort. But Betty's dissatisfaction with her housewife role slowly, and convincingly overtakes the movie. Because her days seem unstructured and meaningless, she feels like a decaying appendage to her family. She has lost her own identity, is no longer self-sufficient. Brad is bewildered by his wife's unhappiness, yet he too is aware that their dream began to crack the night he revealed to Betty he was having an affair. So Betty rents a room of her own in a motel (owned by lecherous Will Geer). There, she spends several hours daily, reading, thinking and practising her skills as a photographer. This private space becomes a room for her to change, develop and grow - until Brad discovers her haven. Seeking ways to solve their sagging marriage, he suggests - at the advice of his friends, John and Iris, that they try swinging and partner swapping. Peter Brown brings energy to the movie's finale as the hitch-hiker Betty hires to pose as a lover she has fabricated for her husband. Throughout "Memory Of Us" the story realistically conveys a very true to life marriage in which two people grow farther and farther apart. It is coloured with humour, some sadness, and ultimately a great deal of hope.
