THE INSTITUTION COULDN'T HOLD 'EM AND THE COPS COULDN'T CATCH 'EM
Three 'teenage [sic] boys successfully carry out their plan to break out of a maximum security institution, commit a daring armoured truck robbery in broad daylight, and then slip back in without being detected. Aiding the trio is a pretty 'teenage [sic] girl who lives next door to the ringleader. Burt (RALPH MEEKER) is driver of the armoured truck and father of the gang's leader, whose mother is Bess (IDA LUPINO). Dan (LLOYD NOLAN), chief of Armoured Security, goes after the boys in an unmarked patrol car. After a wild chase, the kids subdue the guards of the armoured truck and make their escape. On their way back to the institution, they rush headlong into a motor-cross, leaving the free accomplice to hide the stolen money. Dan, aided by Burt, breaks down the kids' well-constructed alibis and goes after the girl next door and the loot. Her escape attempt is foiled and, in a surprise twist, reveals that Bess was the real brains behind the caper. She is apprehended, while Burt and his son agree to work out their problems together after the carnage, finding a new respect and understanding which had been lacking in their relationship.
