Synopsis

Here is a joyful, entertaining and constructive film intended for young children learning the alphabet. A personable and articulate owl acts as master of ceremonies introducing all the animals selected to represent the alphabet from A to Z. This is a curtain raiser to the twenty-six episodes each dealing with one individual letter. Subsequently, with the owl's help salient qualities are ascribed to each animal, in the separate episodes with a common format - example "D... is for Desperate Digging Dog... a Delightfully Different Dog... a Dangerous Dog". Using a magic pot, the wise owl then demonstrates other items that begin with letter "D" - Drummer, Duck, Diamond, Dragon, etc. Some of the words illustrated on screen do not always form part of the vocabulary of a four or five year old, but effort has been made to select words that would normally be used in general conversation. Animal Alphabet Parade introduces touches of humour and surprise which emphasize its appeal to children. The music too has a "top of the pops" flavour - an added attraction in a series certain to delight the young folk.
