Synopsis
Life is beautiful - on the outside!
Taxi driver Antonio leads a happy go lucky life in Lisbon before the revolution.The only thing that concentrates his mind is the beautiful Maria and his overwhelming love for her. Through his association with Maria's uncle, owner of the bar where she works, Antonio unwittingly becomes involved with the revolutionary movement and is thrown into jail. He is obsessed with escape and the prospect of rejoining Maria, but in a nail-biting climax involving a mass breakout, everything possible goes wrong....
