Synopsis
This is one of Donizetti's most delightful operas, with a seemingly endless supply of
good music and marvellous opportunities for comic acting.
The performance centres on Sir Geraint Evans as Pasquale with Lillian Watson as Norina —alternately pert, shy, warm and petulant. Ryland Davies is again seen in his most appealing role as Ernesto, Norma’s love, while Russell Smythe plays the part of the scheming Dr Malatesta.
The comic sequences, vocal brilliance and marvellous acting make this production a must for opera lovers.
