Set in an American small town, Lovers and Other Strangers is a domestic drama in which a young couple approach marriage fearing that matrimony will drive the romance out of their relationship. Indeed, as the day draws near pressures grow; from friend who unexpectedly reveal their intentions to divorce and even from the girl's parents (Gig Young and Cloris Leachman) whose marriage is not everything that it seems.
