Synopsis

Every time the news of a military coup d'etat hits the headlines, the story of Power Play is being played out for real. In this most unusual film David Hemmings plays the part of a loyal army colonel in a country blighted with cruelty, corruption and fascism. Much against his will but inspired by dissident intellectual Dr. Rousseau (Barry Morse) Hemmings foments a plot to topple the government. The planning of the coup, the outwitting of unspeakable secret police chief Blair (Donald Pleasence), the fearful demands of loyalty to a treacherous plot and a bitterly ironic conclusion give this film an all too realistic feeling. A film for anyone interested in the times in which we live.
