Synopsis

Hayley Mills gives a sensitive and moving portrayal of a frightened 10-year-old girl in this tense murder drama played out against the uncompromising background of Cardiff's Tiger Bay dockland area. A young merchant seaman (Horst Buchholz) comes home and shoots his faithless girlfriend dead. The only witness: Gillie, a tomboy of a girl who wants nothing more in life than a gun to play with. The bond that develops between the killer and the girl puts Superintendent Graham (John Mills) off the scent - and puts the innocent Gillie in danger of losing her own life.
