Bertha is a tough young girl growing up fast in Arkansas in the depressed 1930s. After seeing her father die in a crop-dusting plane crash, she wreaks a violent vengeance on his boss. On the run, she hops a boxcar and embarks on a remorseless career of crime, in league with gangsters and train robbers. This is the true story of that career, as told by Bertha herself in her autobiography Sisters of the Road.
