Synopsis

A SOUND TRACK FOR THE EYES. A JOURNEY FOR THE IMAGINATION.
"...a little masterpiece. Davies got it just right." Miles Kington - The Listener (BBC). "...strikingly original and, at times, brilliant." Paul Donovan - London Daily Mail. "..a cryptic but arresting blend of drama and pop video, a kind of mind's eye journey with music... [sic] Patricia Finney - The Standard. Roy Davies of the Kinks makes his film-making debut as director, writer and composer of "Return to Waterloo," [sic] This suspenseful music film is a unique approach to the synthesis of music, video and cinema. There is little dialogue - the story is told through music and lyrics. Renowned actor Ken Colley plays "The Traveller," a middle-class commuter going through an emotional crisis as he attempts to confront reality and fantasy, love and violence. Other stars include Valerie Holliman, Dominique Barnes and Tim Roth. Ray Davies himself appears at the beginning and end of the film as a busker singing the title song. "Return to Waterloo" embraces Ray Davies' trenchant view of modern society as reflected in thirty albums over a remarkable twenty years with The Kinks.
