Benny Hill has delighted television audiences all over the world for more than 20 years.
Benny was born in Southampton, England in 1925 the son of a chemist. From an early age he showed a strong desire to entertain at family gatherings and amateur concert parties. However, success did not come over night. Benny graduated the hard way through the theatres and music halls but always with an eye on television.
His chance came when he was asked to compere 'The Service Show'; his short comedy sketches were so popular that by public demand he soon had his own show with the BBC.
His shows, with the BBC initially, but for the last 11 years with Thames have never failed to attract an enormous television audience. Success for Benny Hill in UK has been repeated in over 20 countries across the world and, recently, his shows achieved something that has always eluded British comedians, outstanding success in the United States. Benny has taken the US by storm with his shows being seen often twice nightly on TV stations all over the vast continent.
