Pomme is a hairdresser's apprentice. She is shy, retiring and lonely. She strikes up an unlikely friendship with Marylène - two more different people it would be impossible to find. At first Pomme admires the flamboyant Marylène with her liberated and relaxed attitudes - but soon she is revolted. Into Pomme's life comes François. A student, he, too is shy and emotionally immature. They take a flat together. But the disillusioned Pomme finds that François is incapable of giving her the type of love she needs. She feels increasingly threatened and inadequate... and when the pressure gets too much, her mind snaps...
