POVERTY IS THE KISS OF DEATH
As the story unfolds around the family, the eldest son desperately tries to eke out a living in the local market to support his brother and their widowed, terminally ill mother. The physical and mental strain proves unbearable, however, when his mother dies, forcing him to throw himself on the mercy of a Roman Catholic orphanage. They are willing to help but he is told he must lose his freedom and conform with the institution's way of life. Unable to come to terms with reality, he rebels, only to be rebuffed by fate which has still to unveil the cruellest blow.
