Synopsis

CLYDE IS AN ORANG-UTAN - BUT HE'S STILL CLINT EASTWOOD'S BEST BUDDY. Philo Beddoe is a good natured trucker with a working man's taste for cold beer and country music in California's parched and dusty San Fernando Valley. Philo's an easy going guy except that he has one special talent and one consuming preoccupation; he is the best bar-room brawler that anyone can remember, and he loves an elusive lady singer named Lynn Halsey-Taylor whom he pursues across most of the great south west. Philo has a couple of pals who help him out in these endeavours; one is Orville, who promotes fights for Philo with various other heavy-weight brawlers, and the other is Clyde, a fully grown male orang-utan. Won in a bet, Clyde helps Philo out with his sparring and lends a sympathetic ear to his romantic problems. Philo, Clyde, Orville and Echo, Orville's girl friend, team up to help track down Lynn Halsey-Taylor, but are being trailed themselves by a disgruntled motor cycle gang out for revenge and two cops who have taken a vacation in order to settle a few old accounts with Philo.
