Synopsis

Gary Numan shot into the spotlight in the summer of 1979 when Tubeway Army's "Are Friends Electric?" reached the number one single position in the U.K., closely followed by the album, "Replicas". In September, Numan's "Cars" and "The Pleasure Principle" repeated the achievement, and all four records went gold. His innovative style of music and individual use of synthesisers made him the leading light of modern electronic-based rock music - a music which Numan has succeeded virtually single-handedly in popularising. This video was shot on the tour that immediately followed this astonishing success - a tour that set new standards in visual impact with its spectacular stage set and dramatic lighting effects, and established Numan as a major star. The tour was know as "The Touring Principle '79".
