With three races still to go, Rindt has earned the most points and was declared the 1970 Grand Prix Champion posthumously. This was the year team-mate Cevert scored his first GP win at Watkins Glen, a race which sadly marked the last Formula One appearance of Jo Siffert who was killed at Brands Hatch two weeks later.
