Black comedy set in a mobile army hospital during the Korean War and centring on three hell-raising surgeons who keep sane only by disregarding arm bureaucracy and joking with each other as they operate on the endless number of wounded brought in from the Front. Some critics called this movie "a film that showed the brutalising effects of war." Others called it an irreverent "Carry On Korea." Either way, the net result is hilarious. Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould and Tom Skerritt head the cast of the film which spawned one of the most successful TV spin-offs of all time.
