BRINGING UP BABY - The First Year is a companion guide for parents and offers expert advice on care, feeding and hygiene together with tips and hints on the development of children in their own highly individual ways. The theme of the programme is reassurance and it has been designed to assist parents, especially first-time parents, through a period when adapting to a new baby can leave them feeling as though they are all alone with problems which nobody else can understand.

The programme has been designed in separate 'chapters' for easy reference and these chapters, with their approximate running times are as follows :-

New-born Examination 0-8 minutes
Feeding 9-16 minutes
Hygiene 17-23 minutes
Social Development 24-30 minutes
Teething 31-38 minutes
Health 39-44 minutes
First Birthday Party 45-46 minutes
